Yamaha FG‑150 – Vintage Japanese Folk Guitar

The Yamaha FG‑150 is an iconic Japanese folk guitar, known for its warm, woody tone and surprisingly powerful projection despite its compact size. Produced between 1966 and 1972 at the Nippon Gakki factory, it remains one of the most beloved models in the FG series for its musicality and reliability.

Built with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard, it delivers a quick response, rich mids, and impressive projection. It’s an ideal guitar for fingerpicking, rhythmic folk, and players seeking an authentic, lively, and inspiring vintage instrument.

Every FG‑150 carries the unmistakable character of Japanese guitars from the late ’60s and early ’70s: a blend of definition, clarity, and natural resonance that continues to win over today’s musicians.

This example shows a few normal signs of wear and use, and still retains its glossy finish. Fingerboard planarity has been corrected and the frets have been fully replaced.
